POST PRODUCTION MARCHES ON!

Hi everybody! We wanted to give you a quick update on the progress of the post-production work being performed on Scouts Honor.  But first things first, Mac and Ash are the proud parents of a baby girl!  This is their second child and we will be getting her to review raw footage and sync sound in no time.  Obviously, this wonderful news has led to a bit of time off from the production, but there is still a lot of activity going on with the film. A... Read More

Transitioning into Post Production

Editing pioneer Sergei Eisenstein Now that we are done with the main phase of photography on “Scouts Honor: Inside a Marching Brotherhood” many of you are wondering….what’s next? There is certainly a lot to do to complete this documentary.  It doesn’t just fall together.  There are a lot of decisions to be made and paths to explore.  We have many terabytes worth of data to organize and comb through that will eventually... Read More

About Two Weeks to the End

Filmmakers Tom Tollefsen & Mac Smith Hey everyone, Today Mac and Tom are on their way to Atlanta to catch up with the Madison Scouts for their show at the Georgia Dome on Saturday.  This is one of larger regional shows of the year and we could not be more excited to be there filming all of the action.  While in Atlanta, we are planning on getting a number of crucial interviews with staff, members, and supporters of the corps, as well as some... Read More

A Sense of Urgency

One advantage that we had with our IndieGoGo campaign this past January was a sense of urgency.  IndieGoGo campaigns (like Kickstarter) make it very clear how long someone has to raise a certain amount of funding.  It’s almost like the finish line is highlighted in neon with  loud alarm bells ringing.  While we didn’t reach our goal on IndieGoGo, we were still able to get the funds that we raised on there. Instead of doing another... Read More

Mid-Season Campaign Update

Hey all, We wanted to give those interested in the production of our film, “Scouts Honor: Inside a Marching Brotherhood”, an update as to what has been going on with the project.  This is our labor of love, completely independent documentary about the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps, an organization of which we are both alumni.  As you may recall, the initial filming began last summer, as we worked out the kinks with equipment and... Read More

This Round Goes to the 90s!

The alumni challenge on Facebook came to a close yesterday. In this two week contest $2391 were raised for the production costs of our documentary about the Madison Scouts.  All these funds came from former marching members of the Scouts.  Each of these contributions were compiled into which decade the donor marched in.  These contributions made it possible for us to get to Wisconsin for “Drums on Parade” the first show of the 2012... Read More
